The OJNI Editorial team, Editorial Board and administrative HIMSS staff are reaching out to inform you about some recent developments regarding the publication of the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics (OJNI). HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) has decided to temporarily pause the publication of OJNI after this summer edition. At this time, we do not have any specific information regarding when the journal will resume publication. Given this uncertainty, we wanted to suggest that authors consider exploring alternative publication opportunities for the time being.

While it is regrettable that the journal's publication has been paused, we believe it is important to ensure that your valuable research and insights reach the appropriate audience. We understand that this news may come as a surprise and potentially cause some inconvenience. Please know that HIMSS has made this decision to strategically evaluate the administration and resources allocated to OJNI.

The Online Journal of Nursing Informatics has just finished its 26th year – a commendable status that becomes even more meaningful when we consider that it is one of the longest running peer-reviewed informatics journal in the world. The OJNI has continually evolved over these many years in content, process, and semantics. We hope to continue this evolution by taking this time to refine our processes and infrastructure even more.

We thank all our reviewers, editorial and production staff, and the many authors who have submitted their research and other nursing informatics work over these past decades. We hope to renew this publication in the near future and again work with nurses and other health professionals devoted to the ever-evolving world of nursing and health informatics!
