Accelerating Wearable Tech

On a special edition of the Accelerate Health podcast, we continue our series of spotlights on unique digital health startups that are changing the face of healthcare. Each of these companies were also featured at the hybrid event for HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas.

Smartwatches are a popular accessory on many wrists these days – but healthcare leaders are beginning to tap the potential of wearable technology when it comes to gathering patient data and providing care.

This week, we speak to Jayanthi Narasimhan, Founder & CEO for WatchRx. This organization created a simple smartwatch with a dedicated reminder solution, GPS, emergency alert, fall detection and predictive analytics. Jayanthi discussed her personal history with the need for wearable tech, which led her to start her company to fill a gap in the market. After caring for her senior mother and realizing there was no comprehensive, yet simple wearables that focused on remote-patient monitoring. Her aim is to help older adults with chronic health conditions manage their medications while giving caregivers and healthcare providers the ability to monitor remotely.
