Patient Access

Accelerating Wearable Health-Tech

On a special edition of the Accelerate Health podcast, we continue our series of spotlights on unique digital health startups that are changing the face of healthcare. Each of these companies were also featured at the hybrid event for HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas.

With the rapidly changing landscape of healthcare technology, providers continue to explore new ways to not only care for their patients in a clinical setting, but engage to participate in managing and monitoring their own health in the home environment. Wearable technology provides a way for physicians and patients to connect more frequently and with richer data.

This week, we speak to the founder of Strive Medtech, Padraic Obma, MD. His team created a total care platform redefining the delivery of musculoskeletal care through the use of mobile software and wearable technology. This platform empowers patients to be part of their care and treatment plan. Obma explain end-to-end solution from initial assessment and conservative care through surgery, and post-op care.

Obma talks the about the platform’s patient-focused approach. However, with all types of wearable tech, there comes the challenge it being inaccessible to those who cannot afford it. He explains that another key goal is to address health equity through an initiative to provide proper hardware to underserved communities.
